Bebop extraordinaire Tommy Potter holds down a great foundation on this album alongside drummer Clarence Johnston. There aren’t any bass solos but there are great examples of reharmonization from the standard writing of some very famous tunes. This is a great album for beginning students looking to play along to records. The bass is clearly audible and provides great language to under the jazz idiom.
